The Proclamation of the Bioregion of Cascadia!

The Proclamation of the Bioregion of Cascadia!

We, the People of the Bioregion of Cascadia, have a civic and moral obligation to protect and steward the bioregion that we inhabit. This bioregion consists not just of the geological or ecological systems that composes the landscape, but also consists of socio-economic and political strata that are integral aspects of the Bioregion of Cascadia. We, of Cascadia, “hold these truths to be self-evident” that all People are born with certain unalienable Rights that are not decreed by temporal governing bodies nor limited by social constructs, but are inert and mere fact of the individual’s being. That We hold that all People must be approached and treated as Equals in their being in the Jurisprudence of this bioregion and if to be judged then that should be a judgement based on their actions not on their predicament of birth nor on the unique characteristics of their being that are safeguarded by their unalienable Rights. That all laws, juridical systems and governmental institutions are instituted by the People of the Cascadian Bioregion to protect and preserve those unalienable Rights while maintaining a collective consensus of Equity in our being as individuals and as members of the various communities.

We, the People of the Bioregion of Cascadia, also “hold these truths to be self-evident” that the Natural Commons are endowed with their own unique unalienable Rights. We maintain that all laws, juridical systems and governmental institutions are instituted by the People of Cascadia to serve or preserve or at least shall not hinder in the stewardship of the Natural Commons. That the People within this bioregion are bestowed with the responsibility as stewards to their preservation, restoration and protection as the People partake and interact with the Natural Commons. We proclaim that no human can be “owner” nor “master’ of the Natural Commons and that no human can own Nature nor the realms of within Nature.

We, the People of Cascadia, also hold this truth to be self-evident that We are endowed with the responsibility to the stewardship of the Social Commons and the Public Trusts which safeguards the needs of all generations and the diverse human societies. That this stewardship of the Social Commons and the Public Trusts is part of the Social Contract between the People of this bioregion and the various institutions they have created and invested in. And that these institutions and even the Social Contract, itself, are in the responsibility of the People of Cascadia to the preserve, manage, protect and when it is deemed needed amend so as to safeguard the unalienable Rights of the People and Natural Commons.
